TODAY’S PASSAGE
From “Voice Of Jesus 2” by Michael Canfield:
Faced with the choice of surrendering immediately or facing further court proceedings, I agreed to the terms and was granted thirty days to settle my affairs before self-surrendering to Safford, Arizona Federal Prison to begin serving my sentence.
REFLECTION
There are moments in life when we face choices we never imagined we’d have to make. Moments when the path forward requires us to surrender something precious—our freedom, our plans, our carefully constructed sense of control. In this passage, Michael Canfield stands at such a crossroads, facing a decision that would change everything. Yet within this moment of profound difficulty, there’s something remarkable: the dignity of choice, the grace period to prepare, and the courage to face what must be faced.
How often do we find ourselves resisting the inevitable? We fight, we struggle, we exhaust ourselves trying to avoid what life is asking of us. But there’s a profound wisdom in recognizing when the time has come to surrender—not in defeat, but in acceptance. Those thirty days weren’t just about settling affairs; they were a gift of transition, a space to find peace with what was coming. Sometimes the most powerful thing we can do is stop fighting and start preparing our hearts for the journey ahead.
This is where faith becomes real. Not in the mountaintop moments, but in the valleys where we must walk forward even when we’re afraid. Love—true, divine love—doesn’t promise us escape from hard things. It promises us we won’t face them alone. When we surrender to what is, rather than exhausting ourselves fighting what cannot be changed, we create space for grace to meet us. We discover that even in our most difficult moments, we are held, we are loved, and we are never abandoned.
THIS SPEAKS TO ME BECAUSE…
What in your life right now is asking for your surrender? Where might you be fighting a battle that’s keeping you from the peace that comes with acceptance? Consider that perhaps the courage to face what’s ahead, rather than run from it, might be the very doorway to your transformation.
