TODAY’S PASSAGE

From “Voice Of Jesus 2” by Michael Canfield:

The final instance of intense physical pain came during my time training in swimming, diving, and gymnastics. While practicing backflips on a trampoline at the Boys Club, I misjudged my distance and landed hard on a wooden bench. I broke two ribs and punctured a lung. This marked a turning point. You wanted healing and were ready to receive it. You committed inwardly to caring for your body rather than challenging it. As you aligned intention with care, recovery followed. Your body responded to the respect you offered it. What once required struggle now unfolded more easily. The adventure began on a Thursday after high school let out. I was struck with the idea to travel to Los Angeles to visit my cousins. I shared the idea with my friend Roger, and he agreed to go with me. We skipped school the next day and hitchhiked our way to Los Angeles, arriving on Friday.

REFLECTION

Sometimes our greatest lessons arrive wrapped in pain. In this powerful passage, we witness a profound shift from pushing against our limits to honoring them with respect and care. How often do we treat our bodies, our minds, our spirits as obstacles to overcome rather than sacred vessels deserving of tenderness? The voice speaking here reveals a truth many of us learn the hard way: healing begins when we stop fighting ourselves and start listening with compassion.

Notice the beautiful simplicity of the transformation described: “You committed inwardly to caring for your body rather than challenging it.” This isn’t about giving up or becoming weak. It’s about recognizing that true strength flows from alignment, not resistance. When we shift from struggle to care, from force to respect, everything changes. Our bodies respond. Our hearts open. What once felt impossible becomes natural. This is the power of love applied to ourselves—the foundation from which all other love flows.

The passage then moves seamlessly into adventure, reminding us that caring for ourselves doesn’t mean shrinking our lives. It means living more fully, more freely. When we honor our needs and listen to our inner guidance, we create space for spontaneity and joy. We become available to the nudges of inspiration, like that Thursday afternoon idea to visit cousins in Los Angeles. Faith and self-care aren’t separate from adventure—they’re what make true adventure possible.

THIS SPEAKS TO ME BECAUSE…

What area of your life are you still challenging rather than caring for? Where might you need to shift from struggle to respect, from force to alignment? Today, consider one way you can honor yourself with the same love and tenderness you’d offer someone you deeply cherish.
