Border czar Tom Homan has touted the success of the illegal immigration crackdown in Minnesota.

During an interview with CNN on Friday, Homan said the state and Minneapolis are safer because of immigration operations.

He pointed to what he described as unprecedented cooperation with local law enforcement and said he now has a strong working relationship with state officials, who are honoring detainers for migrants in their custody.

The border czar acknowledged some mistakes may have been made during the federal crackdown but maintained that the vast majority of agents have acted appropriately.

“When you have thousands of arrests every week, mistakes will be made,” Homan explained. “When I first got to Minneapolis, things weren’t perfect. I made changes, and I think Minneapolis and Minnesota are better for it. The streets are safer. The vast majority of men and women are doing the right thing out there every day, and they’re making this country safe again. We’re keeping Donald Trump’s promise to make America safe again and carry out mass deportations. It is not okay to be in this country illegally.”

Homan also said the surge of federal agents in Minneapolis is over and the federal footprint will be back to normal within a week.
