A new report from a daily Lebanese publication, Al-Nahar, charges that Nicolas Maduro, the dictator from Venezuela captured by the U.S. military on President Donald Trump’s orders and brought to New York to face narcoterrorism charges, has been helpful to the terrorists of Hezbollah.
That organization, with its terror backing from Iran, has been active on the world stage over and over, and at all times in pursuit of the destruction of Israel.
It is considered to have had significant operations in Venezuela under Maduro’s control.
And now the report accuses Maduro of delivering 10,000 Venezuelan passports to the terrorists in the organization.
It as the Middle East Media Research Institute that, monitoring publications in the region, found the report by Al-Nahar.
Some of those passports were used by officers of Syria’s Bashar al-Assad to flee that nation, the MEMRI report said.
MEMRI explained the Al-Nahar article was called, “Officers of the deposed Syrian regime who are in Lebanon: Who is protecting them?”
It explains after the Assad regime was overthrown in December 2024, many senior officers fled to nearby Lebanon.
“Al-Nahar also notes that the ‘narrow circle surrounding’ Assad is based in Moscow, while ‘one of those who had links to that regime’ reported other officers fled to various Arab and African locations,” the organization reported.
“Some former Syrian officers – whose extradition has been demanded by the new Syrian regime — are residing in Beirut’s Dahieh suburb, a Hezbollah stronghold, while others are based in other parts of the country, such as Maameltein in the Keserwan district, where one senior officer was recently killed,” MEMRI reported.
Quoted in the publication was Lebanese Brig. Gen. Wehbe Katicha, who said “not a sizable number” of Assad regime members are in Dahieh, with others in hiding elsewhere.
Some have had plastic surgery to disguise their identities.
“The retired Lebanese general further claimed that Maduro provided Hezbollah with 10,000 passports, suggesting that some Syrian officers may have used these passports to flee Lebanon to Venezuelan or other countries in South America or elsewhere,” the report said.
Explained MEMRI, “In April 2025, a Lebanese journalist claimed that 400 families of Hezbollah commanders moved to Venezuela, Colombia, Brazil, and Ecuador…”
Fox News reported that U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio cited the presence of Hezbollah in Venezuela at the time Maduro was captured.
He said the Lebanese terrorists no longer will be allowed operations in the South American state.
Hezbollah is considered responsible for a bombing at a U.S. embassy that killed 63 and a Marine barracks where 241 were killed.
Rubio said, in an interview, “It’s very simple, OK? In the 21st century, under the Trump administration, we are not going to have a country like Venezuela in our own hemisphere, in the sphere of control and the crossroads for Hezbollah, for Iran and for every other malign influence in the world. That’s just not gonna exist.”
