As I write this on Christmas Eve, with so much good emerging from the holiday in spite of liberal grousing, I am reminded of the chasm between the Left and the Right. It has now become dangerous.
One can see that the Left has evolved from being merely an opposition party to becoming a traitorous force, reminiscent of revolutionaries. They will no longer settle for minor tweaks to our great country. They want an end to it as we know it.
Much of their anger comes from a void of who we are and where we came from. Children used to receive a thorough education in history and civics. Probably planned, possibly by circumstance, they are now steered in the direction of discontent. It has done tremendous damage to our country.
People who know very little about the Civil War or the reasons behind our fight for independence often gather propaganda from the internet, primarily from leftist sources. It’s the devil whispering in your ear, 24/7.
When you come to a point of grievance that the land your home sits on is ‘stolen land,’ you show ignorance, both a lack of education and an intolerance of fact. We acquired our land through treaty, purchase, war, and seizure. But let’s not kid ourselves. This place is earth, not heaven. Every bit of populated land on this planet was taken from someone else…every bit. It is impossible to unscramble that egg.
This lack of education has created conflict where there shouldn’t be any. Some Blacks insist on reparations for slavery when the government has on several occasions attempted to compensate freed Blacks after the Civil War.
General Sherman provided Special Field Orders, No. 15, on January 16, 1865. That order reserved 400,000 acres of confiscated Confederate land along the Atlantic coast for the settlement of newly freed Black families. Each family was to receive a plot of no more than 40 acres. Sherman also authorized the families to receive leftover army mules for plowing, a change from the original order. By June of 1865, 40,000 freed people had settled on the land.
The Freedman’s Bureau Act of March 3, 1865, signed by President Lincoln just before his assassination, created the Bureau of Refugees, Freedmen, and Abandoned Lands. The act authorized the lease or sale of 40 acres of abandoned or confiscated land to “loyal refugees and freedmen” with the opportunity to purchase after 3 years.
The Southern Homestead Act of 1866 attempted to open 46 million acres in five Southern states to freed Black men. This program was unsuccessful, as Southern Democrats fought for and received pardons for former Confederates, thus getting much of their land back. Only about 1,000 Black homesteaders were able to secure property under this act.
The Union could not provide compensation to every freed slave because the government, after the war, lacked the financial resources, and many immigrants at the time had as much or less upon landing on our shores. It is noteworthy to add that rectification of freed slaves is unknown in all of world history. Historically, payments went to slave owners when slaves were ordered to be freed.
Interestingly, Kamala Harris’ Scotch-Irish ancestors (not African) were slaveholders. They were reimbursed when Britain outlawed slavery in 1833. Harris’ mother was Asian Indian.
There’s lots of misinformation going around.
The Democrat Party opposed just about any legislation aimed at advancing the Black population after the war and well into the 20th century.
This contest is not your typical political rivalry; rather, it is a fierce battle to transform an entire culture—Western culture—that is rooted in the principles of Christianity. And there lies the objection.
The Left has no god, relying instead on the supremacy of mankind, government, technocracy, and a rejection of religion or Christian ethics. The political class in much of Europe and parts of America where the Left is dominant has succumbed to the lies and chaos it has perpetuated, leaving citizens grappling with uncertainty and mistrust…hence discontent.
Their democracy resembles a “new democracy,” essentially a repackaged form of communism. It presents itself as a facade, masking the underlying tenets of communism that threaten to undermine traditional values and principles. As liberals increasingly champion a globalist agenda, they maintain narratives that obscure the truth.
Many on the Left embrace the false belief that humanity can thrive without God. So far, only a small number in Europe have openly voiced their dissatisfaction. The legacy of monarchies has suppressed much of their willingness to express uneasiness.
Trump is well on his way to solving many problems callously left for Americans to deal with…illegal immigration, the illicit drug trade, high prices, high crime, high taxes, protecting criminals, and a shocking trend on the Left toward immorality… problems that have been plaguing this country for decades. We now have the first president to take it seriously, and yet, the Left scoffs. In fact, in just the first 10 months of 2025, the Trump administration faced 530 lawsuits. Many psychiatrists have even decided that TDS (Trump Derangement Syndrome) does exist.
Democrats trade in discontent. They can never solve your discontent; they only use it to garner votes.
Discontent is a disease that grows with each application of complaint. If we look around with clear vision, we see ‘solutions’ that defy common sense… gender reassignment, protecting criminals instead of citizens, self-indulgent and whiny politicians, and social media with a constant chip on their collective shoulders. This is not a time to look outward, but to look inward and make peace NOT with your discontent, but with God.
