President Donald Trump has announced that he will replace Kristi Noem as the United States Secretary of Homeland Security (DHS).

On Thursday, President Trump announced via Truth Social that Kristi Noem, whom he praised for serving the United States “well” as secretary of Homeland Security, will transition to a new role as special envoy for the Shield of the Americas.

This newly launched security initiative reportedly focuses on the Western Hemisphere and is set to be formally unveiled by the administration this Saturday in Doral, Florida.

The president concluded his post by thanking Noem for her dedicated service.

She will be succeeded by Senator Markwayne Mullin (R-Okla.), the only Native American currently serving in the U.S. Senate.

Trump referred to Mullin as “a MAGA warrior and former undefeated professional MMA fighter,” adding that he “truly gets along well with people and knows the wisdom and courage required to advance our America First agenda.”
